Overview:

Simran joined Chambers as a tenant in October 2022, following the successful completion of her pupillage under the supervision of Kate Morley.

Simran has developed a busy criminal practice and is regularly instructed to prosecute and defend in cases before the Crown, Magistrates’ and Youth Courts. Simran has experience in dealing with a wide range of offences, including offences of violence, drugs offences, sexual offences and dishonesty offences. Simran is a Grade 2 Prosecutor for the CPS and is often instructed to conduct private prosecutions on behalf of the RSPCA in relation to animal neglect and cruelty cases.

Simran was led junior in a trial involving misconduct in public office where she was responsible for considering the extensive unused material and making appropriate disclosure requests. More recently, Simran was successful in securing an acquittal for her client following a five week trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court which dealt with offences of human trafficking, modern day slavery and money laundering.

Simran has also appeared before the appellate Court on multiple occasions. She was recently successful in renewed applications to appeal against a sentence 725 days out of time, when she was not counsel instructed at the original sentence hearing. Her client’s sentence for conspiracy to supply between 4-8kg of cocaine was reduced from 12 years’ imprisonment to 9 years’ imprisonment.

Simran has successfully completed the Vulnerable Witness Training conducted by the Inns of Court College of Advocacy.
